If you’ve tried upgrading Windows Vista Enterprise to Windows 7 Enterprise or Professional you may have already discovered that Windows 7 will tell you that you cannot upgrade to Windows 7 Enterprise. Windows 7 Enterprise Upgrade will tell you that only a fresh install is possible which will not take your current Vista Enterprise settings with. However there is a way to trick Windows 7 in to thinking you are running Windows Vista Business which is able to upgrade to Windows 7 Enterprise. The trick is to change two registry settings in Hkey Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version You need to change the Edition ID and Product Name key. Change the word Enterprise to Business and then rerun the Windows 7 Enterprise setup. This time you can upgrade Windows Vista Enterprise to Windows 7 Enterprise.
