Everytime I travel to a state with a tollway I always seem to miss one or more tolls along the way. Lucky most tollways allow for a grace period of 7 to 10 days where you can pay your missed toll. I decided to start a new website what will help people find quickly how they can pay any missed tolls on any tollway in the United States. The blog is called Tollway Payment and in time will contain the means by which you can pay any unpaid or missed toll anywhere. This will not only be a great new project, it should help me as I travel. Recently I missed a toll in Virgina and had to go through quite a runaround to find the license plate number of my rental and call into the missed tolls division. Finally I did get my toll paid but a website like my Tollway Payment blog would have helped out quite a bit.

One cool thing about iTunes is that it’s a mature product and vey popular. Because of these two facts there is alot to write about as it relates to iTunes. I decided to start a blog where I can find solutions to common iTunes errors that people encounter. Sometimes it’s faster to read someone’s blog post then searching the support site at Apple. So if I can help some folks while writing entertainment content about the latest itunes error so be it. These types of websites are also nice because there will never be an end to the stream of iTunes errors that customers will find. Because i’m a huge fan of my iPod and iTunes I also find this type of site very interesting to work on which helps stay motivated.

I hadn’t worked an automotive related project for awhile but decided to jump back in to see how well it works. I purchased domains to cover Ford dealers in various Illinois cities. Many times people will search by city name so I figured i’d create a web site based on the city name that provides name, address, phone number and hours of operation for several popular Chicago area Ford Dealers. The dealers I covered are in the list below. It will be interesting to see if the concept works as it could be repeated for other states or expanded in Illinois. Each website cost $7.47 for the domain plus $5.00 to launch it at a directory I use. I figure my break even is at around $120 so it will be interesting to see how long it takes to reach that point.

When I first got my Kindle 2 one of the things that first stumped me was how do I delete Kindle books from my Kindle 2. I had downloaded a sample of a book and then realized I could not figure out how to get rid of the book. I quickly figured it out but thought i’d try and save you some time. To delete books from a Kindle you need to be at the home screen so you are looking at your books. Use the joystick to highlight or underline the book you want to delete. Then move the joystick left and you will see an option “Remove From Device” now push down on your joystick to delete that book from your Kindle. If you change your mind you can right click instead to remove the option to delete a book from your Kindle.

If you are having trouble with your Kindle 2 or have questions you should know that Amazon has provided both an email address you can send to as well as a phone number for Kindle 2 users. The Kindle 2 email address is kindle-cs-support@amazon.com and if you want to contact Amazon Kindle 2 support at their phone number you can call 1-866-321-8851 from the USA or if you are a Kindle 2 user outside the US you want to call phone number 1-206-266-0927. You should have your Kindle on hand when you call. You can call for error messages, payment questions or questions about Kindle repair. This phone number is actually Kindle support for all models so you don’t have to be a Kindle 2 user to get help here.

While installing Windows 7 professional on several laptops at work we found that network file copy perfomance was horrible. Because we do all our application installs over the network the slow network performance on the Windows 7 Pc’s was really putting a crimp in our ability to configure the systems quickly. We thought that security settings or software or antivirus software might be the problem but it turned out to be a new feature of Windows 7 causing the slow file server and file copy performance.

Windows 7 by default has a feature called remote differential compression enabled. When remote differential compression is enabled and you are trying to copy files off a Windows file server the files copy but the peformance is poor. Because Windows 7 seems to have issues with Remote Differential Compression, we just turned off the feature on our Windows 7 Pc’s and immediately we found file copy performance improved to what we’d consider normal.

To restore file copy performance on your Windows 7 PC Click Start, Click Control Panel. Go into the Programs And Features icon and choose Turn Windows Features On/Off on the left side of the pane. Then uncheck Remote Differential Compression, click ok and reboot.
[

If you are looking for an easy way to extend the reach of your Wifi network you can accomplish this easy for $52.99 by getting a Wifi signal booster model HSB2 by Hawking Technology. I bought three of these on Amazon and used two to extend the reach of a customer’s Wifi network in a 20,000 sq foot warehouse. I also recently added one to my home wifi network to get a great signal out on my outdoor patio.

Without the Hawking in that warehouse the Wifi router only got us to the middle of the warehouse and not down the rows of rack shelving and boxes. Adding one Hawking booster got us around most parts of the warehouse and since my router had two antennas I added a second to help get further in the other direction. Installation is easy, just plugin the AC adapter and screw the grey end of the antenna cable to the Hawking input and the other end into the connector where your antenna is located on your router. That’s it and you are done. You can buy longer cables if you want to move the Hawking HSB2 to a higher or longer location away from the router. The only drawback is a faint high pitched whine that comes from the Hawking HSB2. I never noticed it in the warehouse but in my home office I initially noticed it. I was worried my dogs wouldn’t like it and that i’d find it annoying however I no longer notice it and my dogs never seem to pay any attention. They still lay under my desk as always so what initially worried me has turned into a non-issue. So if you don’t mind spending $52.99 to extend your wireless network the Hawking Technology HSB2 signal booster is an easy way to solve a common wifi problem.
